It’s one of those things: do graphic design, use Photoshop. And spend way too much cash, which in these times isn’t something many of us really want to do. Fortunately there are alternatives that are either free (as in beer) or affordable. If like me you need to regularly edit images and don’t need most of what Photoshop offers, then the trade off between less functionality and more savings is an easy decision to make.

I love my Mac. I am at home in OS X because things work. So you can understand my frustration when I have to open such excuses for enterprise class software as Adobe’s Acrobat. I personally cannot stand the thing. Software upgrades don’t even install properly! Anyway, if you like me, detest using it, here are some Adobe Acrobat alternatives for Windows, Mac OS X and Linux.
