While the printer on your desk probably isn’t anything out of the ordinary, unless it happens to be a next generation 3D printer, the technology in it is actually being used in some weird and wonderful ways. Printer ink technology is now being used to print tissue and bones, create solar panels and flexible electronics, among others. Here are some of the most advanced inks to have a look at.

Yeah we may be in the grips of one of the deepest recessions in living memory, but once a gadget freak, always a gadget freak. So you can only imagine what my credit card looks like after I read this post about specialist cameras?! Well, actually, I couldn’t afford any of them – they’re just too expensive.

Times are strange. And weird things are happening that would have been unthinkable just a few months ago. Including an Italian carmaker taking a large stake in one of the world’s biggest car brands, Chrysler. What next?

I hate cable clutter. Loathe the stuff. If I could get a wireless display, then I’d have it. And printers, at times the bane of my existence, are one of the main culprits. Just one printer and you end up with at least two cables, strewn over your desk like spaghetti. So when I saw this roundup of 2008’s best wireless printers, then I thought I should share it with you. :)

So today is the day. After months years of hype and pent up expectation, Barrack Obama will be inaugurated today in Washington DC as the president of the United States of America. Wow. Don’t get me wrong, I wish the guy well as much as anyone else. But this hysteria is just getting ridiculous. And problematic. For Obama, with unprecedented approval rates, has the hopes and dreams of an entire country upon his relatively inexperienced shoulders. Watch it all unfold live online and wish him the best – he’s going to need it.

I print a lot of documents, consuming more than my fair share of ink and paper. Even at home we tend to go through more supplies than anyone I know. If you are spending too much on ink supplies or, like me, hate the sight of cables on your desk, then have a look at these family friendly inkjet printers for using at home.

This is just getting ridiculous! Seems like the equation goes something like this: if business is bank and subprime is true then bailout. Now it’s Bank of America’s turn!

Unfortunately I have the displeasure of suffering from internittent internet connectivity. It drives me insane. An hour without the internet feels like an eternity, which in itself is actually quite a sad indictment of my mostly online life. But where does that connection come from? This map of undersea cables answers a lot of those questions.

It’s one of those things: do graphic design, use Photoshop. And spend way too much cash, which in these times isn’t something many of us really want to do. Fortunately there are alternatives that are either free (as in beer) or affordable. If like me you need to regularly edit images and don’t need most of what Photoshop offers, then the trade off between less functionality and more savings is an easy decision to make.
